Two great safari camps in South Africa

South Africa is one of the best countries in Africa to visit on safari.  Not only is it home to Africa's Big Five, (the African elephant, the African lion, the Cape buffalo, the black/white rhino and the leopard), but it is also home to many other animals such as Nile crocodiles, hippopotamuses and vast diverse bird species.  This country is also home to many national parks including the Kruger National Park, set in a picturesque, wild, scenic part of Africa.  This article shall briefly describe two lovely safari camps within Africa that guests would enjoy visiting.

The first safari camp is Elephant Trunk Safari Camp.  This safari camp is situated in the Balule Nature Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger Park and sanctuary to Africa's Famous Big Five. With almost 3000 ha of traversing you can look forward to a true safari experience of wilderness and undisturbed biodiversity.

Uniquely positioned in the bush between Marula and Acacia trees with it's own special view above and beyond the thorn trees, our waterhole, the Olifants River and the majestic Drakensburg range on the horizon, Elephant Trunk Safari Camp is a place not easily forgotten!

The second safari camp is Kwafubesi Tented Safari Camp, which is located in the heart of the spectacular Mabula Game Reserve, home to an astounding selection of large mammals including the Big Five, other predators such as Hyena and Jackal, and a variety of antelope from Red Hartebeest to Eland, Gemsbok to Blesbok. That's not to mention the elusive cheetah, cheeky honey badger and the omnipresent crèches of warthogs that flit across one's path during your game drive at Kwafubesi.

For panoramic views across the beautiful Mabula Game Reserve, there's nothing more special than heading up Dicks Hill. See Impala, Zebra, Giraffe, Eland and Ostrich all graze together on the vast open grassland plains; the herd of elephant crashing through thick bush to get to the juiciest leaves and a shy hippo pair hiding everything but their protruding nostrils under the water.

Admire the resident lion pride lazing under an African thorn tree after a tiring hunt or watch silently as the beautiful, yet terrifying, Golden Orb spider spins her thick web across two Silver Cluster Leaf trees.

Game drives are offered to Kwafubesi guests twice a day – once early morning and again in time for sundowners in the late afternoon, and depending on the time of year you visit, each experience can be unique. Watch the vivid change of the seasons as the green thickets and grasslands give way to the bushveld greys and yellows of autumn. Feel the chilly winter air on your cheeks before sunrise and witness the rebirth of the bush as the first summer rains fall and with it the exciting arrival of lambing season.

In conclusion the two safari camps described are really great places to visit on holiday.  Should guest dare to book a tour to Africa via safari packages, they are sure to enjoy a great African experience at any of these two safari camps.
