Two great lodges to stay at in Bulawayo on safari

Zimbabwe is a beautiful and vast country in southern Africa that is abundant in wildlife and natural landforms. This country is home to Africa's Big Five (the African lion, the African elephant, the black/white rhino the Cape buffalo and the leopard).  It is also home to countless other animals such as the Nile crocodile, the hippopotamus and countless bird species.  Another top attraction for visitors who travel to the country on safari is the great Victoria Falls (one of the seven natural wonders of the world).

Most visitors going to Zimbabwe on safari enter via Bulawayo International Airport.  These guests usually spend two nights in Bulawayo (the second largest city in Zimbabwe), especially guests who have travelled from distant nations, in order to recover from their journey and be in their best for their African safari.  This article shall briefly describe two lovely lodges where guests can choose to stay in Bulawayo as they begin their safari in Zimbabwe.

The first lodge in Bulawayo is the Musketeers Lodge.   The Musketeers Lodge is situated 9 kilometers from Bulawayo City Centre on the Matopos Road, bordering on Tshabalala Nature Reserve alongside the lodge grounds. The guest house has become not only one of the most popular executive destinations in Bulawayo but also the choice of safari clients and tourists from Europe, America, United Kingdom and Japan,  to name but a few and not to forget frequent visitors from South Africa and other regions.

Set in a beautiful, peaceful environment, boasting rolling green lawns and mature indigenous and exotic trees, it is a bird lover's paradise and a welcome get away from the hustle and bustle of the city for the tired executive.  The tranquil well-manicured gardens are a welcome escape from the urban cacophony where one can relax and enjoy the beautiful sunset at the end of the day. Sunrise is greeted by birdsong and the fresh breeze of the morning, reminiscent of a bush camp environment.

The second lodge in Bulawayo is Granite Park Lodges.  The thatched self-contained accommodations at Granite Park Lodges have a teak fitted kitchen including fridge and stove with a separate double bedroom.  The family lodges have twin beds on the mezzanine floor and are fully equipped and capable of accommodating four people with ease.

Granite Park Lodges have an outdoors environment but are only ten minutes from the city center, nestled amongst granite rocks.  There is a picturesque waterfall cascading into a natural swimming pool for your pleasure.  It is here that the African squirrels may show themselves whilst basking on one of the granite outcrops.  The property is on eight acres and is on route to the magnificent Matopos.

In conclusion, guests coming into Zimbabwe via Bulawayo should consider the above two lodges as possible options in their search for good accommodation in the area.
